Pandit Divyang Vakil

Pandit Divyang Vakil (known as Guruji, or “respected teacher”) is a respected tabla guru, tabla composer, and teacher of philosophy.

Pandit Divyang Vakil’s colossal experience of more than 30 years as a guru has produced innumerable professionals in the world of Indian music.  Guruji is immensely involved in the process of teaching and deals with each of his students on a personal level as he monitors their musical growth.  When it comes to the musical progression and advancement of the student, no compromise is permitted.

In addition to being a guru, Pandit Divyang Vakil is a brilliant tabla composer.  His compositions present a modern adaptation of classical tabla.  Some his group tabla compositions include Tabla Tarkhat, Power of Tabla, Tabla Triveni and Tabla Ecstasy. Many of his group tabla compositions are performed by his contemporary classical tabla ensemble Talavya.

Pandit Divyang Vakil ‘s commitment and dedication to music are exemplary.  He is the founder of the Rhythm Riders Music Institute in Ahmedabad, India, and is the founder of SwarGurjari and Taalim Foundation, organizations devoted to furthering the cause of Indian Classical Music.   He is also the director of Rhythm Riders Music Productions.

As a philosopher and seeker of knowledge, Guruji regularly conducts philosophical talks on sound, vibrations, yoga, etc. and has done much insightful writings on these reflective topics.  He travels around the world giving talks.  Countless have been touched and deeply moved by his teachings and guidance.
