The tabla is a male-dominated instrument, and the number of professional female tabla players in the world is slim. In March, Taalim School will hold a special concert celebrating women percussionists. The event will coincide with National Women’s History Month, and will be one-of-a-kind in that it will feature only female tabla players.

A fun, entertaining and educational workshop in which participants learn about the musical relationship between Indian percussion (tabla) and the intricate footwork patterns of classical Indian dance (kathak). Classes Begin September 2011!
Taalim School of Indian Music 
is proud to welcome a new member to our faculty this month. Acclaimed kathak dancer and teacher, Ms. Jin Won, will join the Taalim team and we will be offering lessons in the beautiful classical dance of India: kathak. Weekly group class and private lessons will be held in New Hyde Park, NY (Long Island) and in Edison, NJ. More classes will start up soon at the various Taalim School branches in NY and NJ.
