WHO AM I - Indian Maestro

Ustad Amir Hussain Khan began his music training under his father in the sarangi, but was more interested in tabla. Because of this interest, he became a student of his maternal uncle – Ustad Munir Khan, a legendary tabla maestro in his own right.

A eminent exponent of the Farrukhabad gharana of tabla, Ustad Amir Hussain Khan’s reputation spread far and wide across India. On one occasion, he was invited with state honors to Raigadh by the Maharaja of Raigadh State, Raja Chakradhar Singh. Upon hearing a four hour solo by Khansaheb (in which no compositions were repeated), the Maharaja gifted him 1000 Ashrafis or gold coins.
